5552 is a member of the 4575 class 2-6-2T "Small Prairies", built between 1926 and 1929. They weighed 61 tons, with a coal capacity of 3 tons 14 cwt and water capacity of 1,300 gallons. Boiler pressure was 200lb/sq in, and driving wheel diameter was 4ft 7.5in. They were numbered 4575 to 4599 and 5500 to 5574. Of the 100 engines built, 11 have been preserved.

Fully restored and operational. Returned to service on the West Somerset Railway on 4th October 2002. Reached 1 million miles since being built in 1928 on 12th April 2004. Moving to the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway at the end of 2005, then to South Devon Railway for most of 2006.
